  18. Oh, it multitasks under 3.1 too. Doesn't mean that it is useful or
  19. good. Task priorities do not exist though, Windows apps switch tasks
  20. explicitely and DOS apps are timesliced. And since DOS apps have no
  21. idea about tasking they usually busy wait on the users input. Windows
  22. takes a rough guess wether an app is waiting and then stops it for
  23. a few seconds. That's to ensure that other tasks still get CPU time
  24. but it makes all DOS boxes but the active one sluggish.
